MR Recruitment's - FAQ's
We are often asked by both candidates and clients a number of similar questions about the state of the Treasury Recruitment Market, how we operate as a company and how can MR Recruitment help in my job search?
We attempt to provide a few answers below.
1) What is the current state of the market?
Having become more buoyant in the final quarter of 2007 the market slowed slightly over the Christmas and New Year period as expected.
We have also received many fresh CV’s from candidates who have returned to work in the New Year and decided they want a new start career-wise - this again is an encouraging sign and bodes well for the coming months.
2) Are there any temp/contract roles around at the moment?
Following the introduction of recent accounting regulations a number of contract roles were created to assist clients with its implementation and knock-on effects within companies & the increased workload on treasuries, these are continuing and some opportunities are still occurring although many projects are coming to an end.
We find that most contract roles arise as a result of sickness, both short and long term, maternity cover, company re-organisations, both planned and unplanned, and from project work i.e. the implementation of new cash management and/or treasury systems. This all makes for an unpredictable and fluctuating market that throws up some very interesting roles.
3) Will my CV ever be sent out as part of a mail shot?
It is a strict company policy of MR Recruitment never to mail shot CV’s to clients. The way we work is that we will approach a registered candidate to discuss a role verbally, following that discussion we then send the full job description of a particular role to a candidate and then answer any further questions or concerns before the submission of CV's to a client.
- For candidates this provides the reassurance of knowing you are being matched to a specific role which matches your individual career goals.
- For clients the comfort of knowing you will receive a shortlist of the most suitable and strongest candidates who want to actually work for you.
Consultancies that mailshot CV’s not only alienate their candidates but also their clients who find that unsolicited mailings are an unwanted intrusion on already extremely busy work schedules.
4) Will MR Recruitment reformat my CV?
We will always thoroughly check through any CV that we receive for spelling and grammatical errors, you’d be surprised how many we find - please feel free to run your spell check before sending us your CV! However we leave CV's in their original formats as many of our clients use them to assess the written style and character of candidates who they review. However please don’t worry many candidates become overly concerned about their resumes – they are simply a passport to get an interview and are then used as tools upon which to hang interview questions in a structured fashion. A clear concise business document is what should be expected and delivered.
5) I haven’t heard from MR Recruitment for a while, why is this?
“Don’t worry we do still like you and you haven’t been forgotten!”
After meeting one of the team of consultants for an initial interview we will start to run potential roles past you however we seek to match both you and your specific requirements for a particular role. It is highly unlikely that we will call you with nothing to say. This is because following discussion with both candidates and clients alike, their feedback has been that they would rather we spend our time meeting and calling clients to determine current and future recruitment requirements rather than wasting time on pointless banter we endeavour to produce fruitful results whereby we discover new and exciting positions for our candidates.
This having been said we do appreciate candidates taking the time to call us to give an update of their situation, gain an insight as to the current state of the market or answer any specific questions an individual has.
6) How long is it likely to take to find my next role?
This is obviously an impossible question to answer with 100% accuracy as the answer is dependent upon a number of factors including the state of the market, the time of year, the level of the vacancy, the skill-set of individual candidates and how closely they match to a clients current requirement.
We are however committed to achieving the best results for all candidates and clients at all times so we will endeavour to help you find a role or fill a vacancy you have in the optimum time possible.
