In our 2011 survey we made the
following comment:
"Many financial markets have had a tough year and this has been
reflected in the bonus levels received by many in our survey"
Well things haven't changed too much it seems. It's been another
tough year economically speaking but you knew that already - what
we have had to do this year is actually produce a Global Salary
survey & one Swiss Regional survey.

This year we've produced 2 surveys:
Survey 1 - Full Global Survey Our first includes
the salaries of all 588 Treasury Professionals.

Survey 2 - Our Swiss Regional Survey This survey
specifically focuses upon the salaries of the 83 participants from
Switzerland. As it is a regional Survey the figures are given in
Swiss Franc, CHF.
The higher salaries on offer in Switzerland combined with lower
tax rates despite higher living costs have led to an exodus of
skilled treasury professionals to the region. Once an individual
has made the move to Switzerland, they become used to the higher
salaries and lower tax and it becomes harder to move back to the
U.K.
We estimate that at least 40% of the candidates we meet express a
possible interest in relocating to the country - be it Geneva or
Lausanne in the South or Zurich & Zug in the North. Given the
international nature of the work they do Treasury professionals are
more geographically mobile than ever before. We have recently
placed candidates from the UK and Europe into Switzerland, the
Netherlands, Singapore and Australia.
Our surveys are 100% confidential.
The full surveys are only made available to those treasury
professionals who have taken the time to take part.

2011 Treasury Salary Survey Results
In our 2011 MR Recruitment Treasury Salary Survey consisted of the following:
- 615 Participants Globally
- Unrivalled In-Depth Analysis & Research
- All levels researched from Treasury Assistant to Global Treasurer
Background to the Survey
The MR Recruitment Salary Survey was originally created in 2002
as a result of our frustration at the poor standard of other
generalist surveys.
Even today those currently available still fail to provide any
real insight into the overall compensation of Global Treasury
Professionals as all they offer are "finger in the air" generic
salary ranges that fail to take account of the specialist nature of
treasury.
No mention is made of the relative seniority of positions, the
scope of roles surveyed or the geographic responsibility
encompassed within such roles.
Our survey also offers clients not just numbers but an assessment
of market sentiment from treasury professionals about how they
actually feel about their levels of compensation.
The 2011 survey included the following job categories:
Treasury Assistant
Treasury Analyst/Dealer
Treasury Accountant
Treasury Manager
Treasury Consultant
Assistant Treasurer
Deputy Treasurer
International / Regional Treasurer
Group Treasurer
The divisions were created using the same range of objective
measures as previous surveys, these included size of company,
seniority within the treasury department & relative size of the
treasury department. In our experience, a Group Treasurer at one
company may be equivalent to a Treasury Manager elsewhere so we
used our specific treasury recruitment expertise to distinguish
between & categorise individuals.
As always, the survey is designed to give information that is
meaningful and realistic, rather than generic ranges of salary
data. We further divide the groups according to separate geographic
regions, enabling us to better illustrate where in the world
treasury professionals need to be to in order to earn the greatest
reward.
2011 MR Recruitment Survey - Points to Note
Relative Sample Sizes - Our survey started in the UK and the
region has a well established network of treasury professionals.
This has meant that there was an emphasis on UK salaries in the
past. However our survey has grown rapidly across Europe and also
globally. In our 2009 salary survey we only had 18 Swiss based
participants, we now have 83 Swiss participants and this continues
to grow.
Discrepancies - It may be noted that there are sometimes slight
discrepancies in the number of respondents within some of the
charts i.e. some of the more junior staff were not aware of their
company's exact turnover and so an answer to the question was not
mandatory in the survey.
Outliers - Within some of the categories there are quite wide
salary ranges we have tried where possible to categorize where we
believe participants fit in our judgment of their position and
role. Please remember this is a Global survey so geographic
differences are making a real impact on the figures.
Job Titles - For the sake of simplicity, the titles 'International
Treasurer' and 'Regional Treasurer' have been "merged" if an
International or Regional Treasurer does need more individualised
salary advice then please contact us.
